Elisa Goodman
The Elizabeth Grant Entrepreneur Award - USA

Elisa Goodman
Artist - Illustrator – Designer - Writer - Mentor

Elisa Goodman is the recipient of The Elizabeth Grant Entrepreneur Award 2014 from TheWIFTS Foundation for her successful career shift in creating an inspiring business out of a personal setback. Her company, Curmudgeon Cards, is dedicated to enhancing your life through Creative Expression, Impactful Communication & Inspired ART!

Los Angeles-based, Elisa Goodman descends from a long line of writers and artists, and has always been an out-of-the-box thinker. Moving away from acting in the 1980s, she had a keen eye for observation, and was one of the first Equity-Waiver Theatre Casting Directors in L.A. This led to Elisa's twenty year career casting Independent Features & Television – mostly with casting partner, Abra Edelman (Goodman/Edelman Casting). She was a member of the Casting Society of America (C.S.A.).

In 2000, Reality TV became a mainstay in the television business and Elisa and her husband both found themselves at career crossroads – she started designing greeting cards and Ken went back to school at 50 & segued from unhappy Attorney to happy Librarian! Ken was the recipient of a successful kidney transplant in 1982 - but in 2006, was plagued by squamous cell skin cancer, which eventually left him without sight. It was during this time that Elisa discovered her gift for quirky, digital illustrations. Her I'm Skewed: Encouragement Art with a Twist! and Yoga drawings became a creative outlet for the couple's journey through Cancer -- allowing her to create transformational messages of healing through humor & heart.

Elisa Goodman - Curmudgeon Cards

Using the metaphor of the EYE to look at your life with a fresh perspective, I'm Skewed! offers comic observations to help you get on with it! Curmudgeon Cards is named after her late father, veteran comedy writer, Hal Goodman.

In 2004, Elisa was a contributing author to the anthology, Inspiration to Realization compiled by Christine Kloser. Her chapter was entitled: How to Stay in Your Pajamas All Day and Still Run a Business. In 2012, Goodman was awarded a spot in the pilot program Urban Rebound – a free 9-month business coaching program spearheaded by Nell Merlino of Count Me In - which helps female entrepreneurs grow their businesses from $50,000 - $250K. She is working on The Pirate Chronicles: A Wife's Witty Journey through Cancer, Caretaking & Course Correction & Memos to God. Goodman is a gifted wordsmith and brainstormer, and consults with entrepreneurs who want to successfully get a product to the marketplace through her coaching arm, Hip Pocket Communications.

Her Signature Handmade Art Cards using postage stamps & fabric have been discovered at museum gift shops including: LACMA, The Getty Villa & The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

Elisa Goodman holds a BA in Dramatic Arts from San Diego State University (1974-78) and also trained with the American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T). in San Francisco in 1979.

Partial proceeds from the sales of her I'm Skewed! line rotate between the Jules Stein Eye Institute, One Legacy (for Organ Donation) & The Cancer Support Community.

Her husband Ken passed away in 2010 at the age of 58. Elisa still resides in Los Angeles with their 22 yr. old parrot, Hightop!
