Holli Rae
Director - Producer

For the breadth of their collective courage to undertake The Goddess Project which took them on a 6 month journey across America to discover how women from diverse backgrounds feel and express their individual paths to empowerment, Holli Rae shares TheWIFTS Documentary Award 2014 with Sara Landas.

A natural born communicator, Holli Rae was born and raised in Los Angeles. From a young age, she felt called to combine her creativity and activism to produce art that moved people. Her open heart and curiosity for adventure inspire her to perpetually seek creative ways to bridge the gaps that separate us from one another. Rae studied Fine Art throughout high school and junior college, and in 2008 she won a scholarship to study Visual Communications at the Fashion Institute of Design in San Francisco.

Sara & Holli's Bus

Holli met Sara in 2008, and they discovered the power of having a supportive sisterhood and their worlds were changed forever. As their bond became stronger and their dreams became bolder, they started meeting other ambitious ladies who were also on the path towards pursuing their dreams. Meeting those women and hearing about their unique journeys of self-discovery inspired them to start envisioning how they could share their incredible stories with the world. The Goddess Project was sparked from the duo's desire to see more empowering content for women and girls in the media. Movies play a huge role in shaping culture and nowadays only 11% of all clearly identifiable protagonists in films are female.

In the summer of 2012, Sara and Holli made it their mission to change this. They decided to pack their lives into a mini school bus and hit the road to document inspiring real-life stories from women across the nation. Throughout their 6 month journey, they met incredible women from all walks of life who bravely volunteered to bare their souls in front of their lens. They interviewed artists, mothers, healers, businesswomen and scholars about the life-changing experiences that shaped them to become who they are today. By the end of their 10,000 mile trip across the U.S., they had sat down with over 100 women who shared their stories of realizing their potential, overcoming their fears, and creating the life of their dreams. The Goddess Project is currently in post-production and slated for release in the summer of 2015.

Holli has worked as a multimedia designer and art director and is constantly exploring new forms of visually expressing her passions. Some of her favorite mediums to work with are film, photography, graphic design, and fashion.
