For her skills as a casting director of children and her body of work and experience in film and television in her native Argentina, María Laura Berch is the recipient of TheWIFTS Career Achievement Award as a Casting Director.

María Laura Berch was born in 1976 and resides in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Berch gained her artistic training as an actress in the National University of Arts, from which she graduated. Her time at the University of Arts saw her learning different performance techniques from scholars of the art such as Juan Carlos Gené, the Argentine actor and playwright, Julio Chávez, the leading film and television actor, and theatre director Rubén Szuchmacher, among others.

Complementing her college education, María Laura studied Pedagogy (the method and practice of teaching, especially as an academic subject or theoretical concept), Didatic (Didacticism is a philosophy that emphasizes instructional and informative qualities in literature and other types of art), and Child Psychology in her college studies. She is currently a dedicated casting director, training children, teens and adults, teaching them acting lessons in the audiovisual language and acting direction in different methodology in school and universities. Berch also teaches in the Cinematographic Research Center and other schools of arts and universities.

With a body of work encompassing more than fifty film productions, always in charge of the selection, and the acting training of children and teens, her impressive dossier includes: Las mantenidas sin sueños by Vera Fogwill and Martín Desalvo, Salamandra by Pablo Agüero, Cordero de Dios by Lucía Cedron, Por tu culpa y Aire Libre by Anahi Berneri, Mía by Javier Van de Couter , Un amor by Paula Hernández, Wakolda by Lucía Puenzo, Caídos del Mapa by N.Silbert-L.Mark, among others.

Combining both her skills in acting and casting, María Laura has performed with and was the general Casting Director and acting coach for the children and teens in Una semana solos by Celina Murga, El último verano de la boyita by Julia Solomonoff, Yo en el futuro y Las Multitudes by Federico León, Aballay by Fernando Spiner, La mirada Invisible by Diego Lerman, Abrir puertas y ventanas by Milagros Mumenthaler, Infancia Clandestina by Benjamín Ávila, Historia del miedo by Benjamín Naishtat, La Tercera orilla by Celina Murga, Messi by Alex de la Iglesia, Dos Disparos by Martin Rejtman, and Refugiado by Diego Lerman, among others.

María Laura Berch has also performed as an actress in TV series such as the local and Latin American version of Desperate Housewives (she also did the casting and coaching of the children). Berch is the casting director in a series that soon will be released in Argentina, Bs As bajo el cielo de Orión by Gabriel Medina, La Casa by Diego Lerman and Los 7 Locos by Fernando Spiner and Ana Piterbarg.
