Mona Friis Bertheussen is the recipient of TheWIFTS Documentary Award (Norway) for Twin Sisters, which examines the fascinating and mysterious parallels which intrinsically connect two sisters, a testament to a triumph of the power of the human spirit.

Based in Norway, Mona Friis Bertheussen is an award-winning director and producer; she started her own production company, Moment Film, in 2003. The company had one major goal in mind: To make documentaries that people will remember. Friis Bertheussen believes in the strength of documentary film, and the unique opportunity it provides for bringing insight and sharing moments, and always goes whole-heartedly into the subject. This dedication is reflected in the films her company has produced.

Her documentary film Twin Sisters was recently aired on PBS in the USA. The film has won several international prestigious awards, and is now being broadcast on TV-stations in countries all around the world: USA, Canada, Brazil, South Korea, New Zealand, Israel, Turkey, Sweden, Norway, Denmark,... to mention a few.

We receive daily Facebook and email messages from every corner of the world. I am deeply touched by how this story of these girls has had such a response."

Over the last ten years, Friis Bertheussen has produced a number of successful documentaries with record ratings. All her films have received international exposure, and have been broadcasted all over the world. A number of prestigious awards have been received for her documentary films, including The Audience Award at IDFA International Documentary Film Festival the world's largest festival for documentaries. Mona was also the recipient of the highly-acclaimed Human Rights Award for Film from the Norwegian government.

She studied journalism and TV communications in both Norway and the USA. She also holds a bachelor in Sociology, Literature and Languages.

Films produced by Moment Film include: The Miracle - The highest rated documentary shown on TV2 in Norway in 2009. The Miracle is the unique story of Magne Skåden. As a child, he was diagnosed as mentally retarded. The doctors told his parents to just keep him at home. For 27 years he lived sitting on a sofa. But one day his parents hear about a brain institute in the U.S. The doctors there believe that Magne understands, and that he can learn to walk, write and talk. After months of training, incredible things begin to happen.
