Taeler Cyrus
TheWIFTS "IT" Award - USA

Earnestine Philips accepting for Taeler Cyrus who is in Paris rehearsing for the run of An American In Paris - before it transfers to Broadway in 2015

Taeler Cyrus
Dancer – Artist – Broadway Star

TheWIFTS "IT" Award honors Taeler Cyrus, ensemble cast member of An American in Paris premiering in Paris before heading to Broadway. With a passion, talent and flair for her chosen art form that is projected in her every step, Taeler made her debut on Broadway in After Midnight which won a Tony for Best Choreography.

Since a very early age, Taeler Cyrus set her sights on becoming a top professional dancer and hitting the boards on Broadway. In 2013 that dream came to fruition with her debut on Broadway in After Midnight. This fall, that dream has taken a step further with Taeler billed as part of the ensemble cast of Christopher Wheeldon's new production of An American in Paris. The show debuts in Paris for 40 performances, then heads to Broadway and is set to open in spring of 2015.

Taeler Cyrus was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. A pupil at Marlborough School in Los Angeles, she was the recipient of a CA Liberace College Dance Scholarship and continued her education in New York at The Ailey School/Fordham University. Its program offers the best of both worlds: professional dance training at the official school of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and an exceptional liberal arts education rooted in the Jesuit tradition of intellectual development and personal attention. Cyrus graduated with honors from The Ailey School/Fordham University, with a Batchelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) in Dance.

While at The Ailey School, she participated in training intensives at prestigious establishments and events, including Laban School in London, the UK's only conservatoire of music and contemporary dance; ImPulsTanz in Vienna, one of the most important festivals for contemporary dance and performance worldwide; Jacob's Pillow, America's longest-running international dance festival which Mikhail Baryshnikov says is "one of America's most precious cultural assets"; and the American Dance Festival.

Professionally, Taeler has danced with River North Dance Chicago, Ailey II, The Metropolitan Opera, Thang Dao Dance Company, and apprenticed with Complexions Contemporary Ballet. While at Ailey II, Taeler travelled with the company to Germany, and was featured on the web series Dance212.com. In 2013, when she debuted on Broadway, Ailey II asked her to appear in a "where are they now" episode as a follow up to life after Ailey II.

Broadening her experience and building her resume, Taeler has also performed at several international festivals including The Holland Dance Festival; Portugal's Cistermúsica Festival; Finland's Kuopio Dance Festival; Vaison Danses, in France; and Dancers Responding to AIDS' Fire Island Dance Festival. Commercially she has worked as a dancer for Kanye West, and as a model has appeared in various publications, including: Pointe Magazine, Dance Magazine, Dance Spirit, and Real Simple.

Her awards include: Emerging Young Artist Recipient (college scholarship), Spotlight Awards Semifinalist in Los Angeles, and the aforementioned CA Liberace College Dance Scholarship recipient. Her honed specials skills are Jazz, Ballet, Pointe, Horton, Graham, Composition, Modern Partnering, Tango, Repertory, Improvisation, Yoga, and Pilates.
